The simplest way to grasp the concept is to think of Hosting as "Rental Space." Similar to a storage facility in your area. You may have an old couch or bedroom set that you want to save but ran out of room in the garage. You then might "rent space" in a storage unit.

In conclusion, Hosting means that you will be renting space on an Internet Server that stores you site.

What is a "Domain Name"?
Domain names uniquely identify your company, product or service. More famous names include "yahoo.com, amazon.com and ebay.com." Should I have my own "Dot Com Name"?

Can I use a Domain Name I already own?

What is a POP3 account?
POP3 (Post Office Protocol) is a simple incoming mail protocol that can be thought of as a "store-and-forward" service. With POP3, your email is saved in a mailbox on your server, and is transferred to your email client when you check it.

A POP3 email account for the administrative user (typically in the form of you@yourdomain.com) is automatically set up for you when you order your host package or server. Emails sent to this or any other POP3 email address at your account can be retrieved via any email program and from any ISP worldwide.

Can I have an email address "@my-name.com"?
Yes! Almost every hosting company will setup two default email addresses:

webmaster@your-domain.com

What are "Mega Bytes" (MB)?
